Deciding on an immunohistochemical panel

Transcription factors tend to be very highly expressed, even in poorly differentiated tumors. Examples include:

  • SATB2 (esp. in lower GI mucosal/NET, cutaneous NET, bone, and BCOR-rearranged sarcomas)
  • GATA-3 (breast)

Stains to determine oncologic treatment

  • SCC:
    • PD-L1
  • Lymphoma:
    • CD45, CD43 (R-CHOP)
  • Melanoma
    • SOX10 (Anti-BRAF, checkpoint inhibitors)
